A two-month flood, they said? Make that three or more

JULY 14: A new type of plastic covering is being used for the levees. Plastic is used to cover the levees and protect further damage. Pierre city engineer John Childs said some wear and tear of the plastic coverings is to be expected. He said maintenance of the levees is a daily process. (News courtesy of "Today's KCCR News.")

JULY 16: With a reduction in water releases coming out of Lake Oahe, the Department of Game, Fish and Parks reopened the boat ramp on Hipple Lake at Farm Island Recreation Area. At the same time Gov. Daugaard modified the boating ban that was previously put in place on upper Lake Sharpe. Boating was again allowed on Hipple Lake at Farm Island and also in the main channel of the river from the Farm Island causeway downstream to Big Bend Dam. However, to continue protecting levees, homes and other private property, the upper reaches of Lake Sharpe from Oahe Dam itself downstream to the Farm Island causeway remained closed to boating. JULY 21: City administrator Leon Schochenmaier told city commissioners that outflows from the reservoir have now exceeded the inflows. He said that has meant less water to deal with. Crews continued to work daily on issues such as pumping storm water from city streets. Schochenmaier said storm sewers will remain plugged until the water level goes down further. JULY 22: Flood relief funds amounting to $114,400 were distributed from a fund established by First Natinal Bank. Bank president Craig Davis said funds were distributed during a three-meeting process and that everyone who applied when the funds were available received some money. There were 227 respondents, about 200 of them being families. Davis said the bank's goal was to wait to provide the money for recovery, but many of those receiving the money needed it now. The initial funds included $100,000 provided by the family of former Gov. Frank Farrar, which owns the bank, and $10,000 from Avera Health. The fund remains open for additional contributions. JULY 22: Downtown Pierre literally rocked on Friday night, July 22, as an estimated $33,000 was raised during The Rockin' on the River benefit concert and celebrate sponsored by the Historic Downtown Pierre Association. Association president Scott Cameron said 2,000 wrist bands, needed to purchase alcohol, were sold by 11 p.m., so the attendance was at least that. Modern Woodmen will also match some of the funds raised. The proceeds will go to the Oahe Flood Relief Fund established by the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce at BankWest. Dance-goers simply ignored the sandbags that still line Pierre Street and Dakota Avenue and the stairsteps that enable people to get up, over and down the walls of sandbags. JULY 23: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) rejected South Dakota's request for individual assistance programs to help residents impacted by record flooding. Gov. Daugaard called the action disappointing. He said the denial came in a letter from FEMA administrator Craig Fugate, who said damage to homes and businesses fell short of the severity and magnitude needed to warrant federal assistance. JULY 25: American Legion Post 8 received a $5,000 grant from the American Legion National Emergency Fund, which provides grants to Legion posts harmed by natural disasters. The check was presented to Post 8 commander Nick Dooley from District 10 commander Royce Loesch. Post 8's American Legion cabin at the foot of Pierre Street has been surrounded by Missouri River flood waters on three sides since the flooding began in May. No access has been allowed to the building, and Post 8's lounge was moved to the former Mesa's Diner location on North Harrison Avenue for the duration of the flood. JULY 26: Capital Area United Way presented checks of $6,000 to Pierre Area Referral Service and $1,000 to the Community & Youth Involved Center in Fort Pierre. The donations will be used by those agencies to help those in need. United Way executive director Gloria Hanson said her organization understands that many of its member agencies are running low on funds helping those impacted by the flood. Dan Lusk, United Way board president, said United Way has been involved in flood relief since the first days of the flood. He said the group provided another $1,000 to help provide meals and other services to volunteers. (News courtesy of "Today's KCCR News.")

JULY 29: Here are some of the key dates, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, for decreases in water releases and elevation from Oahe Dam and the reservoir. The dates are part of the floodwater plan as released Friday by the Corps. While the dam releases, measured in cubic feet per second (cfs), do not fall every day, the reservoir elevation is dropping one or two tenths of a foot every day. The Corps cautions that the numbers could change depending on rainfall or other factors. (News courtesy "Today's KCCR News.")

JULY 30: Don't expect the flood waters to go down as quickly as they went up. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says as the flood water goes down in Pierre-Fort Pierre, it will be more gradual than it was when it came out of the river banks in May. Jody Farhat of the Corps’ Omaha office says the decrease will be more orderly as water from the flood plain flows back into the river. She says the drop will not be as dramatic visually as it was when the water rose at the flood's start. On Saturday, the water releases from the Oahe Dam were reduced from 140,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 135,000 cfs. The releases will drop to 130,000 on Wednesday and will remain there until Aug. 16 before decreasing again. The releases will reach 85,000 cfs, the point where the Corps says the water will be back in its banks, Aug. 24 and will eventually be at 30,000 cfs by Sept. 30. At the same time, the elevation of the Oahe reservoir continues to drop about a tenth of a foot each day. On Saturday, the elevation was 1617.7 feet and will be at 1617.6 feet Sunday. AUG. 2: Barricades and access checkpoints that have guarded Pierre neighborhoods most in danger of flooding are coming down effective Friday. They were first installed in late May and early June to protect homes within the inundation zones. Law enforcement helped control access to those areas, allowing in only residents who remained in the neighborhoods or who had evacuated and wanted to check on their properties. With water releases scheduled to keep going down, city officials in Pierre said they understand more people want to go back to their properties to start the cleanup. While there will be no further checkpoints, Police Chief Bob Grandpre said law enforcement will continue to provide security for the neighborhoods. Residents who live there are also asked to keep their credentials in case they are needed again. Officials cautioned that, just because checkpoints are coming down, people should not move back into their homes yet. Officials said there is still too much water behind the levees. Also people who do not live in the impacted neighborhoods or who are there to help with the cleanup are asked to stay away and not impede the work of others. (News courtesy of "Today's KCCR News.")

AUG. 3: Mayor Gill and Mayor Tidball are working on a series of clean-up days, the first of which is set for Saturday, Aug. 27. Gill said that, by both cities working together, resources can be shared. More details on this first clean-up event will be announced later. Homeowners in the Pierre area have fought off the rising river for two months, and for a handful of residents the fight continues on Frontier Road north of Fort Pierre.

The Sanchez family has spent almost every day this summer in a boat, but they never wanted their boat rides to be to their home surrounded by the Missouri River. "It was May 25 when we first got word that we were going to need to be out of our homes for six to eight weeks. It's now July 25. It's been eight weeks, and you can tell the water is still up," homeowner Tiffany Sanchez said.

The river has swallowed up 22 homes on Frontier Road, and almost three feet of water remains in many of the houses. Sanchez and her family live in one of five homes on the street that are still pumping water from behind massive sandbag walls. "Most of us want to come back, the five are planning on coming back, the other 20 are hoping and praying the water goes down so that they can come back," Sanchez said.

The Sanchezes have allowed water to fill their crawlspace to keep it from collapsing, and a temporary power grid inside the garage has been set up to provide electricity for the pumps to keep the water away from the house. So far it's working, but it hasn't been easy to maintain for two months. "When it rains, you stress. When the power goes out, you stress. It's the middle of the night, and you're coming out here, getting in a boat, trying to go out and switch your pumps over from the power to gas generators," Sanchez said.

The most frustrating part is that all the homeowners in the development thought the water would be down by now, but the Corps of Engineers hasn't given any clear schedule for ending this flood.

"We just don't know, and that's what's so trying. I said we feel like we're hostage to them because we can't move forward because we don't know when we can move forward," Sanchez said.

But they still consider themselves lucky because no one on the street has been hurt, and everyone is trying to keep their spirits up even though the water remains high.

"We've had a lousy summer, and it's really not been ideal, but we're all alive, we're all still kicking, and this we'll survive. But it's hard; it's been trying," Sanchez said.

A trying time that's now been a two-month disaster.

Two different financial funds designed to help flood recovery victims have been established by the Oahe Long-Term Disaster Recovery Committee.

The Emergency/Immediate Needs Fund will help with rent/mortgage assistance, food/goods/household items and direct assistance. Meanwhile, the Long-Term Flood Recovery Needs Fund will help with rebuilding assistance such as construction materials and repairs.

Financial donations given for the Long-Term Recovery Needs Fund will be used to match other possible available national funds. The recovery team will look to national, regional and local funding sources to help provide relief and restoration throughout the Pierre-Ft. Pierre area. There are no administrative fees with either of these funds, so all money will go back into the community as flood relief.

II. FAST WEEKLY: POSITIONING OURSELVES TO FREELY RECEIVE MORE FROM GOD

A. We must cooperate with the Spirit so that we may walk in the intimacy and power that the Scripture promises. One way to do this is to fast weekly. Fasting is, by definition, abstaining from food.

B. Jesus said, “When you fast,” implying that fasting occurs regularly in a disciple’s life. 17When you fast… 18your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (Mt. 6:17-18)

C. Jesus promised that the Father rewards fasting. This proclamation alone makes fasting important. Some of the rewards are external, as our circumstances are touched by God’s power. Some of the

rewards are internal, as our hearts encounter Him in new depth. The idea that fasting changes us internally is new to some. It tenderizes our hearts. God gives grace to fast to any who ask.

D. I urge people to fast at least one day a week. Two days a week is better. It is a false notion that fasting is extreme Christianity and is optional. Fasting is basic to the Christian life. There are exceptions: those pregnant or who have health problems should consult a doctor before fasting.

III. SEVEN TYPES OF FASTS IN SCRIPTURE

A. We fast to experience more of God’s power in our ministry. When the disciples could not set a demonized boy free, Jesus told them that that kind of demon could not go out except by prayer and fasting (Mt. 17:21). Many who led revivals fasted regularly, e.g. John Wesley, George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, and Charles Finney. John G. Lake (1870–1935) sought God with much prayer and fasting. God released powerful miracles through him. In South Africa, within a five-year period, he witnessed 500,000 healings and led many thousands to Jesus.

B. We fast for prophetic revelation of the end times. Daniel sought God with fasting and prayer and received prophetic insight into God’s end-time plan (Dan. 9:1-3, 20-23; 10:1-3, 12-14).

C. We fast for the fulfillment of God’s promises to our family, city, or nation. The Lord has plans and promises for each family, city, and nation. We contend in prayer and fasting for their fulfillment as Daniel did for the fulfillment of God’s promise for Jerusalem (Dan. 9:1-3; 10:1-4).

D. We fast to stop a crisis (individual/national). Mordecai and Esther called a fast to cry out to God to reverse a national crisis—the imminent destruction of the Jewish people (Esth. 4:1-3; 16).

E. We fast for protection. Before Ezra led a group back to Israel to help rebuild their nation, he fasted and prayed to God for protection on the journey because of the danger (Ezra 8:21-23).

F. We fast for direction. Throughout the NT, the church fasted for supernatural wisdom and direction. Paul and others fasted and prayed for direction for their ministry (Acts 13:1-2).

G. We fast to grow in intimacy with Jesus (we refer to this as the Bridegroom fast, Mt. 9:15). Jesus said that after His death the apostles would mourn His absence and would fast out of desire for Him. This fast is motivated by the desire to encounter Jesus, rather than for power in ministry.

14Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?” 15And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of

the bridegroom mourn as

long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.” (Mt. 9:14-15)

H. Fasting before our Bridegroom God is a catalyst to speed up the depth and the measure in which we receive from the Lord. Fasting positions our hearts to be expanded as we encounter Jesus. Our spiritual capacity to receive from God increases. We do not fast to motivate God to love us, but to receive the affection that He already has for us—it is not to move His heart, but ours.

I. Fasting is always voluntary. The level at which a person fasts from food should be determined according to age and with regard to various physical limitations. Those with an illness or with any history of an eating disorder should not fast except in consultation with their doctor. Minors are discouraged from fasting food. Minors who desire to fast are encouraged to consider non-food abstentions, such as TV, movies, internet surfing, video games, and other entertainment.

2011 ACPE Word of the Lord

[As Steve Schultz, (Elijahlist), has said, “Prophets see what can be or what will be. God makes the call, depending on our response to the call to pray, obey, repent, and cooperate with the things of God.” Let’s make it a priority to cooperate with God this year. – Pierre Aglow]

Each year, the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders (ACPE) meets to seek the Lord for the prophetic word. This is a team of respected prophets who have the conviction that they are an Acts 13:1-3 model. This passage notes that it was the Holy Spirit giving the word as a consensus among the group and not just to one prophet. So, even though this is a compilation of the prophecies that we have each brought to the round table meeting, it was the general consensus of the ACPE members that the Holy Spirit was speaking the following prophetic words to us.

The ACPE has met now since 1999. This year, for the first time, we invited a group of emerging young leaders to join us. As a result, we probably had the most powerful time of seeking the Lord that we have ever known. At the end of the meeting, a time of impartation took place.

While we are calling this a prophecy for 2011, it is to be understood that the time frames for the fulfillment of prophecies cannot only be confined to a calendar year period, thus this constitutes more of a seasonal prophetic word.

It is also a given that, in some cases, the obedience of the people to respond can either delay, change, or alter what we have seen by the Spirit during this time.

The Year of Transitions: This will either be a year of open heavens or a year of the perfect storm.

The number 11 has the Biblical meaning of transitions. 2011 is the year where we are transitioning from one place to another. Where we will end up at the end of this time depends, in many regards, on how we respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

2011 will be a year of great pressure and stress, particularly, the first three months when it will seem as if we are in a toe-to-toe battle with the forces of evil.

This is a Tipping Point Year: If, in the middle of the pressure of the season, we faint and lose heart, the scale will tip away from us and there is a possibility of great loss and defeat.

The Year of the Straits: The number 11 can be likened to places in the earth such as the Straits of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco. We will, at times, feel constricted, but the narrowing of the way will only cause us to go to the new place that God has for us in the season if we do not fail the test during the pressure.

The Birth Canal: Another analogy that the Lord gave us was the number 11 is like a birth canal. The baby being born is going from the comfort of the womb to the stress and discomfort of being born into a new, large life.

Dreaming Dreams: Joseph shared his dreams with his 11 brothers; represented by 11 stars in Genesis 37:9 and it caused great relational stress. God will pour out a season of dreams and visions this year even among the very young. Watch out for relational stress and keep your heart right in the middle of it.

The Year of Great Expectations: Expect the unexpected in this coming year.

Hebrews 11:11 is key: By faith, Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.

Expect a miracle! God wants to break the barrenness in your life of hope deferred. Many have given up on their dreams and downsized what they believe for because of the times. God's Kingdom is an ever-increasing Kingdom and He is for advance and not retreat.

This is not a time to compromise what God has said to you, but rather to believe that all things are possible. God is not a man that He would lie. If He said he would do something, He has not changed His mind.

A Time of Preparation, Going Deeper into God and Intimacy: New assignments will be passed out in this year of transition for those who do not draw back in the season of testing and fire. Go deeper in God and draw refreshing from His presence and you will make it to your new place of advancement and anointing.

Proverbs 20:5: Knowing what is right is like deep water in the heart; a wise person draws from the well within.

Creative Miracles: The level of the miraculous will increase with the Creator loosing miracles of creation that will directly oppose the spirits of humanism and intellectualism.

The Restoration of the Tabernacle of David: Great emphasis will be upon worship again this year. Worship is the key! Many new 24-hour houses of worship will spring up across the world and result in an open heaven over nations and many souls saved. It is harvest time!

Acts 15:16-17: After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by My Name, says the Lord who does all things.

Great Harvest of those in the Arts/Entertainment Field: Extraordinary moves of God will occur in the entertainment and motion picture industry. Bold, new, unashamed voices will arise and many will listen to their testimonies.

Word for the United States: The nation hangs in the balance and this is not a time to grow weary of praying and acting on behalf of righteousness and justice. Don't let the pressure of the season cause you to retreat into entertainment rather than standing on top of what is happening around you.

We must watch for terrorist attacks as many are having dreams and visions of coming attacks.

One of the illustrations given to us was the phrase, "Are you ready to rumble?" This is used among wrestling aficionados as the match begins. It does more than alert the contestants that the match will start; it also creates an excited expectation in the crowd. God is asking the Christians in America today, "Are you ready to rumble?" The game is at hand and there needs to be a climax of excitement as we anticipate God's next move in the land.

2011 is one of the most critical years in the nation's history and the foundations are burning and are in danger of being destroyed. We must fast and pray and take extraordinary measures to "rumble" both the heavens and the earth.

The Eleventh Hour 11-11-11: This date will have a special significance in this "eleventh hour" time frame.

John 11:11 says: Lazarus our friend has fallen asleep, but I go that I may awaken him from slumber.

The Mayflower Compact was signed on 11-11, 1620 and God is looking for a new generation of reformers who will make a covenant with God and others to stand and fight to awaken this nation in this dire moment of history.

Proverbs 11:11: By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

World: There is a worldwide student-led volunteer movement being birthed across the face of the earth. Satan is going to try and start wars such as he did when the first student volunteer movement started around the turn of the 20th century. World War I effectually shut down the movement as students went to war at times against each other. We must pray against the starting of a third world war, as satan wants to escalate world events for His purposes.

Psalm 110:3: In the day of Your power your youth shall be volunteers.

Korea: Particular prayer needs to take place for Korea as one of the greatest missions movements is destined to come out of this nation that will go to the ends of the earth.

We also strongly felt that President Lee should stand firm against North Korea's aggression.

Middle East: A more widespread persecution will arise against the Believers if we do not begin to intercede for the Middle East. However, there will be a move of God of the youth in nations such as Syria, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia who will not love their lives unto death.

Economy: We must intercede against hyperinflation that will strangle the ability of people of give to world missions.

Intellectual Properties: A great release of new wealth will come from ideas given from God in the form of intellectual properties. A new creative anointing of ideas for those who will use the wealth for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

Children: We are on the verge of a great Children's Awakening that will span the globe. Child evangelists will begin to preach in churches and large arenas and thousand will be saved and healed.

WHAT TO DO WITH A PROPHETIC WORD: SCRIPTURE TO CONSIDER AND GUIDELINES

• Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. (1 Cor 14:1)

• Now, about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. (1 Cor 12:1)

• …. To another, miraculous powers, to another prophecy (1 Cor 12:10)

• And to the Church, God has appointed, first of all, apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those who have gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. (1 Cor 12:28)

• Are you all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? (1 Cor 12:29)

• If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (1 Cor 13:2)

• And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor 13:13)

• Do not put out the Spirit’s fire (1 Thess 5:19)

• Do not treat prophecies with contempt (1 Thee 5:20)

• Test everything. Hold onto the good. (1 Thess 5:21)

All prophecy should be tested by the Holy Spirit and by God’s prophet is infallible or equal in authority to the Bible. Here are some good guidelines for handling prophetic ministry:

* Don’t stifle or despise prophecy, but test it. (1 Thess 5:19-22) Though the prophecy may come in words or in a style of delivery which is not your choice, or through a person to whom you may not relate well, consider their words as instruction from God (1 Peter 4:11)

* Does the prophecy conform to Scripture? The Spirit of God will always agree with His previous revelation on the Bible.

* Does the prophecy “ring true “with you? (John 10:2-5) Usually, a prophetic word will confirm what God has already spoken to you in various ways. It will confirm in you a certain direction and build your faith.

* If prophecy contains prediction, is it becoming reality? If there are factual elements which can be verified, are they accurate?

* Will the prophecy bear good fruit in your life? It is the principle of Scripture that a tree is judged by its fruit (Luke 6:43-45). If the prophecy is from the Holy Spirit, it will serve to glorify Jesus by producing good fruit in your life.

* Wait on God for confirmation and clarity. Sometimes a prophetic word requires further guidance regarding interpretation and timing. Pray about it and seek guidance from the Bible and from those who are mature in the Lord. The latter are the two primary means of guidance from God. Revelation about a situation does not automatically supply the power to change it. Pray for further confirmation, especially where the prophecy involves major change or impact on your life. Remember that prophecy is a diving board from which you plunge into a pool of prayer. If you are not sure about a prophecy, put it on the shelf for the time being. God will confirm it to you.

* When the interpretation is clear, act in faith. If you agree that the word is from God, pray that He will fulfill the prophecy in your life. Have an attitude of expectancy

The National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 5, 2011. You are challenged to Prayer Walk on the State Capitol Grounds in Pierre on that day at any time between 6:00 am and 8:15 pm, but especially on the hour. (No other event is planned for the Pierre area, as far as we know, so Pierre Aglow respectfully invites you to join in a Prayer Walk observance of the National Day of Prayer.)

Thankfully, the snow is nearly gone, and we are praying for a warm, sunny day. Can we cover the State Capitol and our country in prayer on the National Day of Prayer, at every hour on the hour? If you will be able to participate, please register yourself or your group by commenting on this blog site or on the Facebook event page. Indicate your name/the group name and the time you will pray. (Of course, all are welcome to walk and pray whether or not they are registered.)

A limited number of Prayer Guides will be available at the entrance of Lutheran Memorial Church, across from the Capitol on the west side.

“God is beginning to prepare forerunners from many different streams in the Body of Christ worldwide. These forerunners will function in many different ways. They include those called as evangelists, pastors, teachers, media missionaries, artists, singers, musicians, actors, writers, and those in the marketplace. Many will focus on making disciples by leading small groups in their church, university, or workplace. Some homeschooling moms are effective forerunners, teaching their children about Jesus’ second coming and its implications. I. PRAY DAILY: CONNECTING WITH GOD WHILE CHANGING THE WORLD

A. Prayer has different expressions, such as devotional prayer (includes prayer-reading the Word and fellowshipping with the

Spirit to grow in intimacy with God), intercession for revival and justice, providing prayer covering for individuals, and praying for the sick. By praying in these different ways, we can encounter God, do the works of the kingdom, and change the world.

B. A consistent prayer life is essential to the forerunner ministry – only through a lifestyle of prayer can we receive the fullness of what God has provided for us. Prayer is essential, because it causes our spirits to be energized, releases God’s blessing on our circumstances, and results in real changes in the Church, the nations, and society.

C. Prayer connects us with God. It empowers us to love God (first commandment), causing us to overflow in love for others (second commandment). We love others better as we encounter God.

D. We can strengthen our prayer life in three ways: set a schedule for regular prayer times, make a prayer list, and have a right view of God. A schedule establishes “when” we will pray. A prayer list gives us focus on“what” to pray. A right view of God causes us to “want” to pray.

E. I use several prayer lists: [Below, a list of prayer points from the word F-E-L-L-O-W-S-H-I-P.]:

F - Fear of God: Father, release the spirit of the fear of God into my heart (Ps. 86:11)

E - Endurance (perseverance): Strengthen my spirit with endurance to do Your will (Col. 1:11)

L - Love: Father, pour out Your love into my heart (Phil. 1:9)

L - Light of glory: Father, let me see the light of Your glory (Acts 22:6-11; Ex. 33:18; Ps. 4:6)

O - One thing life focus: I choose to be a person of one thing, who sits at Your feet (Ps. 27:4)

W - Count me worthy: Strengthen me to have a worthy response to God in my life (2 Thes. 1:11)

S - Speech: Father, set a guard over my lips and free me from sinful speech (Eph. 4:29; Ps. 141:3)

H - Humility: Jesus, I want to learn from You how to walk in lowliness (Mt. 11:29)

I - Insight unto intimacy (wisdom): Give me insight into Your Word, will, and ways (Col. 1:9)

P - Peace and Joy: Strengthen my heart with peace and joy that overpower fear (Phil. 4:7)

It was late and I was tired, wanting to go to sleep, but God wanted to talk; it was about midnight, but it dawned on me that God does not sleep. His question made me restless. "Bill, where on earth does man keep his most priceless treasures and valuables?" I said, "Lord, usually these treasures like gold, silver, diamonds and precious jewels are kept locked up somewhere out of sight with usually guards and security to keep them under lock and key."

God spoke. “Like man, My most valuable treasures on earth are also locked up."

OUT FROM THESE WALLS WILL COME FORTH AN ARMY

I then saw Jesus standing in front of seemingly thousands of prisons and jails. The Lord said, "These have almost been destroyed by the enemy, but these ones have the greatest potential to be used and to bring forth glory to my name. Tell MY people, I am going this hour to the prisons to activate the gifts and callings that lie dormant in these lives that were given before the foundation of the earth. Out from these walls will come forth an Army of spiritual giants who will have power to literally kick down the gates of Hell and overcome satanic powers that are holding many of My own people bound in My own house.

FORGOTTEN VESSELS--MUST BE RESTORED

Tell my people that great treasure is behind these walls in these forgotten vessels. My people must come forth and touch these ones, for a mighty anointing will be unleashed upon these for future victory in My kingdom. THEY MUST BE RESTORED." I then saw the Lord step up to the prison doors with a key. One key fit every lock and the gates began to open. I then heard and saw great explosions which sounded like dynamite going off behind the walls. It sounded like all-out spiritual warfare. Jesus turned and said, "Tell My people to go in now and pick up the spoil and rescue these." Jesus then began walking in and touching inmates who were thronging Him. Many being touched instantly began to have a golden glow come over them. God spoke to me, "THERE'S THE GOLD!" Others had a silver glow around them. God said, "THERE'S THE SILVER!"

"NOW GO AND PULL DOWN THE STRONGHOLDS"

Like slow motion they began to grow into what appeared to be giant knights in armor-like warriors. They had on the entire armor of God and every piece was solid and pure gold! Even golden shields! When I saw the golden shields, I heard God say to these warriors: "Now go and take what Satan has taught you and use it against him. Go and pull down the strongholds coming against MY church." The spiritual giants then started stepping over the prison walls with no one to resist them, and they went immediately to the very front line of the battle with the enemy. I saw them walk right past the church as big-name ministers known for their power with God were surpassed by the giant warriors like David going after Goliath! They crossed the enemy's line and started delivering many of God's people from the clutches of Satan while demons trembled and fled out of sight at their presence.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?

No one, not even the church, seemed to know who these spiritual giants were or where they came from. All you could see was the armor, the golden armor of God, from head to foot, and the shields of gold were there. The shields were restored to God's House and there was great victory and rejoicing. I also saw silver, precious treasures, and vessels being brought in. Beneath the gold and silver were the people that nobody knew: REJECTS OF SOCIETY, STREET PEOPLE, THE OUTCASTS, THE POOR and the DESPISED. These were the treasures that were missing from His House.

In closing the Lord said, "If my people want to know where they are needed, tell them they are needed in the STREETS, the HOSPITALS, the MISSIONS, and PRISONS. When they come there they will find Me and the next move of my Spirit and they will be judged by My Word in Matthew 25:42. "For I was hungry and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty and you gave me no drink: I was a stranger and you took me not in: naked and you clothes me not: Sick and in prison and you visited me not."

I have been thinking that we need a 'Prison Ministry Reading List'. If I'm not the only one, please add your suggestions for a reading list for our Prison Ministry Team. I own each of the books below (if you want to borrow one), or they are available online or from other sources. I am suggesting the following:

Sunset to Sunset by Thomas Lawrence Riggs (as told to Margaret Kellogg Howard). I think this is an important book for the spiritual mapping of our area. It may be available at the Cultural Heritage Center (I'll check on that) - I see it's quite expensive as a used book on Amazon or half.com.

The Captivity Series: The Key To Your Expected End by Katie Souza (also available at amazon and some others). She is a former inmate and drug addict who ministers deliverance. This is written specifically for inmates, in a Bible study format, and I think it would also be useful for those who minister in prisons. That said, I haven't read through the entire thing. I'd love to have it as a Bible study for prison inmates.

Secrets of the Secret Place by Bob Sorge - this is a wonderful devotional book, and there's a companion Bible study workbook to go with it. There's also a DVD series which I have, and which, again, I'd love to have at the prison. Bob Sorge's website is oasishouse.net, and there is an online discussion forum for the book. It's also available at amazon.com, etc.

Presidents from both parties, congressmen, government workers, and the media seem oblivious to the fact that small business is the economic engine of America and where true prosperity and economic growth is in the world. In Marc Nuttle’s remarkable book, Moment of Truth, he writes about one of the most important insights possibly ever stated by a leader of China. Former Time correspondent, David Aikman, interviewed the retiring head of state in Communist China in 2002, Jiang Zemin, and asked what he wished for in regard to China’s future. His response shocked Aikman and much of the world when he replied:

I would like for my country to become a Christian nation.

When asked “Why,” Zemin’s response was an amazing revelation. He explained how a panel of Chinese scholars had spent twenty years studying why China continually lagged behind the West in science, industry, and culture. After considering every possible explanation, they concluded that it was the religious heritage of the West that had allowed it to reach such heights. The statement of these Chinese scholars was:

One of the things we were asked to do was look into what accounted for the success; in fact, the pre-eminence of the West all over the world. We studied everything we could from the historical, political, economic, and cultural perspective. At first, we thought it was because of a more powerful military. Then we thought it was because you had the best political system. Next we focused on your economic systems. But in the past twenty years we have realized that the heart of your culture is your religion: Christianity. This is why the West is powerful. The Christian moral foundation of the social and cultural life was what made possible the emergence of capitalism and then the successful transition to democratic politics. We don’t have any doubt about this. (Quoted from, Jesus in Beijing: How Christianity is Changing the Global Balance of Power, by David Aikman.)

By allowing more and more economic freedom, China has begun to mightily use this powerful economic force that simple freedom is. However, as Jiang Zemin understood, it is not just economic freedom that enabled America and the West to rise to such heights—it was its biblical worldview. There was purpose behind the prosperity. However, in the greatest economy ever developed, this most basic connect is being lost now in the United States. To the expressed shock of the leaders of the two most powerful former communist states, Russia and China, America, the forerunner and premier founder of the most powerful economic force in history, is now abandoning its biblical worldview as the former communist countries are embracing it. I prophesied that this would happen in a book I wrote in 1988, The Harvest, but I confess that watching it happen is still shocking to me.

As we have covered, studies have shown that small businesses create more than 70 percent of all new jobs in America, and most of these are family run businesses. The most powerful drive of this incentive is family, and family is held together by faith. As all of this has eroded in America, so has the basic infrastructure that could sustain America’s continued prosperity and strength.

At times, Scripture makes a distinction between riches and wealth. Riches tend to come easily and quickly and leave just as easily and quickly. However, wealth is the result of sound planning, faithfulness, patience, and endurance. Wealth comes much more slowly and with more difficulty, but will last for generations and usually multiplies if the same principles that created it are continued. Wealth is more than a balance sheet or money in accounts—it is resources gathered for a purpose. These resources are usually pursued by a family or families together.

Likewise, America built wealth because it was driven by purpose. This was never true of all, but it was true of the core of America. This purpose stayed on course because of the morals and values that guided the majority. However, the most dangerous elements were released into the culture of America when this majority became “the silent majority.” As Karl Marx taught, the tiny minority of the passionate will control the majority who are passive. This is how America is being taken over today by forces which are contrary to everything that built America into such a great and powerful nation.

The tipping points of history have usually come through the small but passionate minorities. Now, for more than half a century, small but loud minorities have dictated more and more of the direction of America. The vast majority, who has by far the great numbers required to turn this around, have become more and more passive. Without a wake-up, soon the downward spiral into centralized control will be hard to reverse, but it is not there yet, and there does seem to be an amazing awakening to this threat. This is kind of like the Gulf Coast oil spill in which we keep discovering that the situation is actually much worse than we thought. There may have never been a time when more citizens are actually reading the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, studying our national history, and even reading bills being passed by Congress, when it seems few congressmen are doing this. This is a foundation for hope.

It was only an ordinary bowl
On a shelf in a potter’s shop

So common that, when she first saw it
She passed by and didn’t bother to stop

But something caught her eye as she passed again
And she took the bowl into her hand
The weight was good, the size was right

Pierre Aglow Prison Ministry and friends have rented an exhibit booth at the South Dakota Women's Lifestyle Conference (www.womenslifestyleconference.com) this Friday and Saturday at the Ramkota in Pierre.

Our team will offer Spiritual Encouragement to each attendee for the duration of the conference ( 4 - 10 pm on Friday, January 22, 7 am - 4:30 pm on Saturday, January 23). Please join us in encouraging prayer for the Conference planners and attendees, and for the weather and travel conditions for out-of-town guests.

We will have for sale copies of Carla Reed's first CD, 'Mysteries of the Deep,' which was recorded in Pierre, and possibly other selections.

Weakness or Greatest Strength?

Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your greatest strength. Take, for example, the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.

"Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"

"This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the sensei replied. Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match.

Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals. This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened. "No," the sensei insisted, "Let him continue."

Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion.

On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind. "Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?"

"You won for two reasons," the sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grasp your left arm." The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.

Affirmation for the Week: “I will look for and see my weaknesses, but as I hold them in my mind's eye, I will see them for what they truly are - my greatest strengths.” Have a transforming week!

Morning Grace

We used this photo on our prison flyers for this month, as we weren't exactly sure how the service would line up. The Pierre Aglow Prison Ministry Team ministered on the last Sunday in December at the Main Prison, after having to cancel the H Unit service on Saturday due to the Christmas 2009 blizzard.

Janie Cass led worship and Merlyn Hilmoe gave his testimony of what the Lord has done in him. Sunny Hannum honored us with a dance she had choreographed to the song "Jesus Christ, the Apple Tree," and Joel Pfeifle completed our group. And we had a bumper group - 42 ladies attended!

Please lift those ladies in prison before the Father in your prayer times. There are a large number of prayer request slips. Merlyn has already prayed over them and after I have also done so I will put them in an envelope and pass them along to the rest of the group. Here is one of the prayer requests:

"I want to pray for my family, especially my mother and three little brothers, step-dad, and grandmda for always being there for me. And I want to pray for their good health. I want to pray for forgiveness from family members - that they forgive me. I want to pray that I'm able to live a happy successful life when I leave prison. I want to pray that I find the path my Lord wants me to walk. I want to pray for the addictrs and alcoholics who are still suffering. I want to pray for all those who I have wronged, and who have wronged me. I want to pray for clear thoughts. I want to pray that I let the past be the past and for me to focus on the future. I want to pray for whoever's reading this. God bless you always."

And I echo that sentiment: I pray for everyone who's reading this: God bless you always!

Fling Wide the Door To My Soul - Pierre Aglow November 2009

Lori Bruse began our time together by talking about the north wind (representing trials and testings) and the south wind of refreshing, and then danced an anointed expression of her love for the Lord. Chris explained and demonstrated Harp and Bowl worship and the worship team and attendees responded with words from the Lord, life experiences, prayers and Scripture.

One of the attendees offered a word that had been given by the chaplain at the Saturday evening service. It was, "When you're facing the north wind, it's easier to stand together than stand apart."

A Word from the Lord for the West River South Dakota Area Retreat, September 2009

It's not by chance that I have placed each of you in this season in history, or in this location. I have given you the trials to mature you and I will continue to becme more real to you in the days ahead.

You felt my love strongly poured out upon you at different times in each of your lives, but I am here to tell you that you haven't seen anything yet!!

In my darkest hour, when I felt all alone, rejected and dejected, accused and abused, it felt as if My Father had left me -- it was my greatest hour of heaviness and sorrow, and my greatest hour of triumph! When Satan thought he'd won, I showed him that the great I AM is greater.

In your own lives, in your greatest struggles and darkest hour, call to me, I know what you are going through, and you WILL overcome hell and all its fury, and live to see your greatest nightmare turn into your greatest victory. You see I have come and paid the price so that you too can overcome and see the light of hte day at the end of your dark tunnel.

My words are true, you can overcome with the Blood of the Lamb, the word of your testimony, and the fact that you loved not your life until death.

Know this - as you hear my story in each of your lives that you are already overcomers, and death will not hold you in the ground, you will see the final victory over the enemy of your souls.

Broken Walls prison tour 2009, from Bruce and Donna Bartelli

Greetings to all!

We have just returned from from what Jonathan, Kris and Bill (Broken Walls) and Paul Starling ( the most incredible sound man on the continent!) have called the most successful MWK journey in our 10 years. And we agree! We thought last year was incredible with breakthroughs, but this year saw even greater things. Our many thanks to all of you who were in intercession for the team of 8 who are still recovering.

I am not going into much of the journey here as I will be sending out a follow-up newsletter in November. It will take that long to put to together plus Donna and I, with several others, will be assisting to honor hundreds of Native Veteran's this November 6th at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. We have 250 Warriors Medals of Valor with Military insignia blankets to present that day during their Veterans Powwow. We are having Marshall and Lauretta Tall Eagle Serna do the ceremony. So we are looking forward to ministering with them once again. So a newletter will be coming, but later.

The purpose for this email is the ATTACHMENT. One of our supervisors at my office retired while I was on the MWK Journey and emailed the attachment included below. Thought you might enjoy it. Randy wrote the story himself; he is of the Cherokee Nation:

There once was a peaceful Native American village nestled in a horseshoe-shaped valley surrounded by beautiful, majestic, tall mountains. Their Chief had led the people of the village through some difficult times, but had at long last enjoyed a time of peace and plenty. He was well and content, but he knew the time grew close for him to go the way of his ancestors and be with his Creator.

So he called his three sons together and gave them a simple quest, to help him decide which one should be the next Chief. He said to them, behold the mountains that have protected and provided for our village with their shadow, shelter, and abundance. Take forty days to hike and climb into the mountains alone. There to ponder the future of our village, and to pray in the solitude of the mountain. Then return to me, and share of your journeys and thoughts.

While they were on their quest the elder Chief prayed earnestly for their safe return, and for wisdom in deciding which one would take his place as Principal Chief.

Upon their return the Chief asked the first son where his journey had taken him, and what insight the Creator had given him while there. This son presented the Elder Chief with a huge pine cone as the totem of his quest, and then told how that he had gone to the very top of the tree-line and from there gazed upon their whole valley. He saw that it was wonderfully lush and green, and full of the sounds of life; babbling brooks, gentle breezes, and the many creatures of the forest. He went on to say from this view he foresaw many more years of peace and plenty, by tilling the open land and gathering from the forest.

The Chief smiled and told him he had done well, you shall be chief over the youth, the women and the aged ones that tend our gardens and gather from the forest.

The second son, as he listened to his brother’s words, had straightened his stance, squared his shoulders, and went from a faint smile to a near grin on his face. When it became his turn to speak he presented the elder Chief with a magnificent eagle feather, as the totem of his quest. He then told how his journey had taken him far beyond the tree-line, to the bluffs and rocky crags where the eagles nested. From there he saw beyond their valley to a high mesa he had never even known was there! As he admired this lush plateau, of wild grass and a sparkling lake, he saw many wild horses, deer, and antelope, and above them bighorn sheep. In all that his eyes beheld his mind saw the potential to capture spirited horses for breeding, and for much big game to hunt. He was very excited for the potential of wealth and increased mobility the horses would bring, and the abundance of meat and hides of the plentiful big game!

The Chief smiled and told him he had also done well, you shall be chief over our able-bodied men that hunt, explore, and break wild horses.

The third son, as he listened to his brothers’ words, had stood very quietly with a respectful but distant gleam in his eyes. When it became his turn to speak the elder Chief noted that his son’s hands were empty. Then the old Chief asked this last son to speak of his journey. The third son then told how his journey had taken him to the very highest peak, and his totem from there was a changed and humbled heart. As from there he had seen the beauty and immensity of the other side! And there, as he prayed and pondered the vastness of the other side, he had heard the still small voice of the Creator whisper in his ear, “The whole earth and the fullness therein is mine.” In all this he was struck with the knowledge the Creator had graciously led them to their beautiful valley, and provided the plenty of the forest and the potential of the mesa! He there came to understand that what is truly important is to seek to know the Creator and to follow His ways, and to be ever prepared for when He chooses to lead us to the “other side.”

The elder Chief gazed admiringly through tear-clouded eyes at his son, and told him he had done very well indeed, and that he would become a wise and compassionate Principal Chief.

P.S. I am reluctant to spoil the story by re-stating the obvious, but just in case the obvious is not as obvious as I had hoped? The point is - we will always need management capable of maintaining the status quo like the ‘forest,’ and of exploring the new areas of potential like the ‘mesa,’ but the greatest need will always be for leadership that can see and appreciate the ‘other side.’ I am truly sorry for how much of the time I failed to see or forgot this lesson! Be blessed, and “… seek ye first…” Matthew 6:33

Overwhelmed!

The distributors of the video "The Ultimate Gift" have given us permission for a public performance of the DVD at the SDWP where we minister each month!

Background: the Church of Hope has sponsored Christian videos for the inmates from time to time and Pierre Aglow has assisted with technical help. In the past, secular videos were available to the inmates but currently, our showings are the only movie alternative. Many excellent movies require a fee of up to $250 to show them in a public performance (as opposed to a home showing).

We had begun thinking about our next video showing and made an inquiry to the distributors of 'The Ultimate Gift' and they provided permission for us to show it, free of charge! That is an enormous blessing and we are so grateful to God and to The Helixx Group!

Dearest Friends,

Blessings and Greetings to all of you on this beautiful Memorial Day weekend. I trust each of you have enjoyed your holiday weekend and are ready for summer. It had been a very long winter for many of us in the northwest, and I'm ever so happy the sun is shining, the trees have leafed out, birds are singing, and flowers are blooming all over Liberty Lake and the area. After the dreariness of winter and the weariness of living under a cloud of constant bad national news, most of us are feeling like we can breathe and hope again.

It has been quite awhile since my last correspondance. Although, I have limited my out of town travel, I have kept busy nevertheless. I have spent several weeks writing and editing my first book on the Water Story. As I began to write, I felt the Lord showed me there will be three books on the Water Journey and that the nine year journey has paralleled a woman's pregnancy. I never saw or considered it like that before, and it made complete sense.

I hope to have some copies ready by this summer and will keep you posted. Pray with me about the formatting, publishing, printing and financing of the book. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the size, content, and easy to read stories that are woven into the book. You could eventually find your stated,river, lake, ocean or city named in the stories. As of now, the writing of the first book is finished, excepting for continued review and proofing.

I will be leaving this week for a month long trip to the midwest. This is my first major excursion in the Glory Van since I finished the twelve week trip to the east coast last fall. I am planning to drive back to South Dakota to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday on June 5. She is living in Neligh, NE, and my family is hoping to surprise her. My dad who lives in Mitchell, SD has just turned 85, and I feel I need to spend some time with both of my aging parents. Then I will travel to Anderson, Indiana where I will get to see my new grandson, Titus, for the first time. He was born in January and is my daughter's fifth child. I will be stopping in Worland and Sheridan,Wyoming, Pierre and Herrick, South Dakota, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. So if you're on my route, contact me, and we'll see if we can get together. I have many wonderful and new things to share with you. The revelation that has been coming to me and the downloads concerning water have been astonishing, and I've caught a glimpse of what I think is coming. It may startle you as much as it has me.

The last several months at home have brought much needed restoration mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I have spent hours reading and studying the many new things that the Lord is showing me. It has taken me completely out of my boxed thinking, but I'm ready for a new season. I will continue to travel and minister as the doors open, but I want to be able to incorporate some new and innovative things regarding natural health and sound, frequency, and music therapy. You'll have to 'stay tuned'.

Last of all, I want to thank you and ask you for your prayers for Joshua who has been in Afghanistan about six weeks. He called over the weekend deeply distressed that his company had lost a pilot and an apache helicopter in a crash. He is part of a small company that did not lose either one man or a helicopter during their 15 months in Iraq. So it was very hard too lose someone so soon. The cause of the crash appears to be mechanical failure which devasted the mechanics who work so hard to keep the 'birds' in the air. Joshua had mentioned they were having trouble getting the needed parts and supplies, although I do not know if that was the particular cause. He took it especially hard as the helicopter that crashed had at one time been assigned to him as the crew chief. It had his fingerprints on it. When I visited him at Ft Bragg over Thanksgiving, he had taken me to the hanger and shown me his aircraft of which I have a picture. He was very proud of it and being its crew chief. That is the very same one that crashed. He had NOT worked on it prior to the crash or since being in Afghanistan, as it had been assigned to someone else, but he took the loss of his pilot friend and the needed and valuable helicopter pretty hard as did their entire company. As you are led, would you pray for him and his company that there will never be another loss of life or aircraft.

Emergency Preparedness - It's for You (And Me)

Truthfully, I hate to hear negative prophecies. But the practical aspects of this one (Cathie Sheldon, Aglow Emergency Preparedness Coordinator) outweigh my discomfort.

The first time I heard Aglow people talk about emergency preparedness, it was in the wake of hurricanes. The bottom line is that those who were prepared could help their neighbors.

Back in the ‘Y2k’ days, our family prepared and urged others to do the same, not because of fear but so that we could help ourselves and others if there was a need (no matter how unlikely). As a result, we have a generator. We've never needed it for an emergency, but it has been used to power inflatables in the park, sound equipment for a wedding, and ran a neighborhood's freezers after a wind disaster. We also shared our leftover Y2k groceries and toiletries with people in need. We still store a few items but need to build up to the 30-day supply they suggest below.

We will be working on this and hope each one will begin also. Start however you can, but start somewhere.

Part of my mission statement in this Emergency Preparedness is to evaluate all I see and weed out those that seem exploitive and inflammatory. I see of lot of those. The enemy would like to "wear out" our minds with ineffective busyness. Wear out is the literal meaning of the word persecute of Daniel 7:25. AN URGENT MESSAGE

I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE - EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires-such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting-including Times Square, New York City.

What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God's wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,"If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (v. 3).God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, "God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart" (Jeremiah 18:11-12).In Psalm 11:6, David warns, "Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire).fire.burning wind.will be the portion of their cup." Why? David answered, "Because the Lord is righteous" (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment-just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah's generation.

WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD'S PEOPLE?First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We "flee like a bird to a mountain." Or, as David says, "He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven-his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men" (v. 4). "In the Lord I take refuge" (v. 1).I will say to my soul: No need to run...no need to hide. This is God's righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take-trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. 5 MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE WITH EMERGENCY SUPPLIES
For most people, emergency preparedness is a brand new concept. As you get prepared, you will hear a lot of different opinions (including my own) regarding the best way to do that. I have helped thousands of people across the country get prepared for life's unexpected emergencies. As I have done so, I have noticed some common mistakes that people seem to make in getting prepared. Let me share with you what I have seen.

Mistake #1 - Not enough water or no plan for water at allAs has been discussed in this blog before, water is the most often overlooked item in your emergency supplies. People either under prepare for their emergency water supply or simply don't plan at all. A healthy adult can live for weeks without food but you will die in less than a week without access to clean drinking water. You will need about a gallon of water per person per day. That covers both sanitation and hygiene as well as hydration needs. There are articles in this blog that discuss water storage and water purification. Please take the time to read and make sure you have water stored for your emergency supplies.

Mistake #2 - No hygiene supplies
After a disaster, disease and illness related to conditions of poor hygiene are very common. In most disasters, more people die after the disaster than during the disaster because they cannot maintain proper hygiene. The simple answer is to have personal and family hygiene kits available. These items can be purchased as a kit or put together at home. Here are some items to consider in your hygiene kits:. Waterless soap or hand sanitizer - You may not always have water available, but you this type of soap will kill the bugs.. Port-a-Potty - This simple device fits on a 5 gallon bucket and will help keep the waste in a safe place. Make sure you buy bags and deodorizer.. Toilet Paper/Tissue. Toothbrush. Toothpaste. Razor. Small hand towel. Bar Soap. If you have babies: diapers and wipes (handy for other uses as well)

Mistake #3 - Out of sight, out of mind
It is critical to do three things with your emergency supplies: Review, Rotate and Replace. In order to do that you will need to have your emergency supplies in a place where you can get to them at least once a year. Many times, people make the mistake of buying their emergency supplies, typically a significant and important investment, and then never looking at them again until they need them.

Review: Make sure that at least yearly you review the items in your emergency supplies. Get familiar with what you have in your emergency kits and food storage. Try them out, use the products that you can.

Rotate: Then rotate out items that need to be used. Pull out the batteries and use them. Rotate at least some of your food supplies. That is why I recommend freeze-dried food. This is food that you will want to eat. Your kids will like it. Rotate out first-aid supplies or maybe medications.

Replace: After you have rotated out your old supplies to be used (don't waste them, use them!), then you will need to replace your supplies. Make your list of supplies that need to be replaced and do so right away.

Mistake #4 - Store shelf stable food and water
I see this mistake a lot. What I mean is, many people buy off the shelf items from their local retailer for their food storage. Now, that can work. The food from you grocer will work for food storage. The problem comes from the reality that people typically make mistake #3 with their emergency supplies, so the food never gets rotated. Items purchased from your local grocery store have about a 1 to 2 year shelf life. So you go out and spend a lot of money on food that will expire long before they will ever be able to use it or worse yet before they even look at it again.The reality is, most people don't review, rotate and replace.

So to compensate for that, buy long term, shelf stable food storage. Typically, that means food that will last for at least 10 years and water that will last for 5 years. It will mean your food and water will be usable when you need it.

Mistake #5 - Forgetting personal and comfort items
Many times when people are putting together their emergency supplies they look only at the basics like food, water, light, warmth, shelter, etc. That is all very important and needs to be done. But, it is important to not forget to put some of your daily personal and comfort items into your 72 hour emergency survival kits and shelter in place supplies.For example if you have kids, what are you going to do to keep their mind off the current situation? I recommend including in your emergency supplies simple games, coloring books or books to read. Throw in a pack of playing cards into your 72 hour emergency survival kit or some travel checkers or chess. Make sure in your shelter in place supplies you include comfort items like snacks that they like (rotate annually), maybe a stuffed animal, games, books, comfortable clothes, blankets, etc. Keeping you and your families stress level down and spirits up during a disaster is critical for survival.

Also, don't forget personal medications that you may need. For example, I wear contact lenses. My supplies should include contact solution and a replacement pair of contacts. I should also throw in an old pair of glasses, just in case. You may need a particular medication or personal hygiene item. If it is critical to your survival, then include it. If I didn't have my glasses or contacts, I would not survive for very long. It is as simple as that.

Aglow's Belief Statement
The whole Bible is our creed. This month, our Aglow group will share the Louie Giglio video, "How Great is Our God", which is a moving and inspiring discussion of the universe and our (very small) place in it. Here's a link for part of the video

When we called the distributor for permission to present it at the prison, they were extremely gracious and indicated that we could show it wherever we want, whenever we want, with only the caveat that we not make copies of it (as of course we would never do). Our team members from River Center Church in Pierre will lead us in worship before and after the video.

Pierre Prison Aglow has several new members - Betty Winkler, who will be eligible to join us this month, as well as Sunny Holloway and Joel Pfeifle whose paperwork was not filed in time for this month's event.

Pierre Aglow is coming alongside a group to plan a First Nations retreat, to be held March 6-7 at New Life Assembly, 1120 N. Harrison, Pierre, SD 57501. "I am lingering on the east coast to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my handsome young soldier son, Josh. He is based at Ft Bragg, NC, and it will be a joy to have several days with him before I begin my drive back to Washington. Enroute I’ll stop in Anderson, IN where my daughter and family just moved and in Sioux Falls, SD to see my oldest son and family. My mom now lives in Neligh, NE, so I’ll make a stop there as well and hope to see other family in the area. It’s one of the perks of travel to see family as most of them are not able to travel very far with young children,school obligations, and jobs. Thank you so much for your prayer cover and your kind words of encouragement and strength.

Today, I have been ‘on the road again’ for 8 weeks and am feeling the effects of much travel. I have already come 8,000 miles in 8 weeks. Were it not for my being able to spend Thanksgiving with my son, I would be heading home. It was a month ago today, October 10-11 that I stepped into the waters of the far northeast corner of America at Eastport, ME. I am still in awe of that Divine moment and the wonder of the beauty of the northeast ablaze with color. As I’ve been on the east coast, I’ve enjoyed several weeks of colorful changes and varieties of foliage. Broken Walls at the SD Women's Prison

Saturday, November 1, Pierre Aglow partnered with the Mission Wounded Knee team to bring Jonathan Maracle and Broken Walls to the South Dakota Women's Prison as part of their tour of South Dakota prisons and reservations.

The team joined us at the Wakpa Sica Reconciliation Place for a powerful time of prayer and testimony on Friday evening, October 31. Karon and Ron Young joined in hosting a portion of the team while they were in Pierre. Due to a paperwork mixup, Kimberly Stover, Janie Cass and Norma Blacksmith were not allowed to join us at the prison, but continued in prayer while the rest of us were there. Merlyn and DeAnn Hilmoe were the only local people who entered the prison with Broken Walls and the team.

From Bruce Bartelli's email recap:"The team, outside of Jonathan, Kris, Bill, Donna and myself, included Cindy Austin (Rochester, NY), Wayne and Chicky Taylor (Wakefield, MA), Sound techs Paul Starling and Richard Erb (Canada), Jim Uttley, Indian Life Newspaper, (Manitoba, Canada) and joining us from Rosebud to Pierre were Elizabeth Thomson, Dave and Joyce Bell, and John and Beth Russell (Rochester, NY area). Wendy Barcaro came from Rosebud to help with the Sioux Falls beginning side of the journey, set up the Middle School assembly, helped prepare dinner for the rest of team at Sinte Gleska University in Mission, came over to Pine Ridge in the evenings and then came up for the Women's prison outreach (all while working full time during the week). Locally, "mom" Norma Blacksmith worked tirelessly on the star quilts for the Whiteclay honoring ceremony before the Broken Walls Concert and prepared a meal at the Re-creation center. Marvin and Julie VanHooten of Rushville prepared a meal for all attendees at Whiteclay and were marvelous workers and servants. "

From Jonathon Maracle: "....we're on our way home after the most successful tour ever. We played Whiteclay the other night and truly connected to the native people. A powerful time of worship was had. We did several memorials to sons, daughters and brothers who had died. It was powerful and an awesome tool to reach their hearts. Two days ago we played in the SD Maximum Security for women.

About 120 came out and were very excited to have us there. When I played "Tears"
(flute song) for the mothers and grandmothers they all stood and cheered after I was done.
We ministered very clearly about the love of Jesus and as I played "Rise Up" they all stood to their feet and raised their hands over their heads, many with tears. The supervisor was really moved by their response and is going to send us letters from the prisoners as well as her endorsement of Broken Walls. Sunday morning Bill and I did the service for New Life Assembly ... Once again it was a powerful time as the church began to dance and sing with BW. The Pastor said "You shared things that people really needed answers for in a
way they could truly embrace". We were very encouraged!

Those of us from our local Aglow prison ministry were gratified as the ladies lifted their hands in worship, joined us in a welcome dance, and responded to the concert. One inmate was moved to worship exuberantly in her native dance, even using the Wendy's shawl when it was offered (with the approval of the prison staff). This was an enormous effort by the Mission Wounded Knee team and volunteers and we extend our thanks to all who assisted. God was honored.

Church of Hope at the Women's Prison

Merlyn Hilmoe had the opportunity to preach at the Women's Prison for their weekly Saturday evening church service twice in October, and once at the H Unit, and Janie Cass led worship. At the H Unit, we viewed the Louie Giglio video, "How Great is Our God", which is a moving and inspiring discussion of the universe and our (very small) place in it. When we called the distributor for permission to present it at the prison, they were extremely gracious and indicated that we could show it wherever we want, whenever we want, with only the caveat that we not make copies of it (as of course we would never do).

We plan to use the DVD at our December 28 Aglow service at the main prison, with live worship before and after the video.

Recap: October 13 The Prayer Experience (Jehovah Rapha)

Life got so exciting there was no time to blog! If you can imagine.

To recap: The Prayer Journey, provided by Barbara Roos from Carthage, was a joint meeting of the Jehovah Rapha prayer meeting held each month at New Life Assembly of God, and the Pierre Aglow group.

The Prayer Journey was awesome! We began with some worship in the main room, then one by one, the attendees moved to the starting point, where we washed our hands in preparation for the journey. Tables throughout the room focused our attention on many of the different ways the Lord has revealed Himself to us.

We loaded backpacks with blocks of wood representing the problems we have such a hard time laying down, and then noticed the difference after they had been discarded.

We received Communion; we knelt before the cross; we wrote our names on God's hand; we tried on bridal veils.

And we wrote, drew or colored our prayers of thanksgiving to the One who gave His life for us.

As I said, it was an awesome time and I'm so thankful for all who took part, especially those to whom this was not a familiar or easy task. Thank you, Barbara for working so hard to present it.

The Prayer Journey is a journey to a personal relationship with Christ. According to Barb, "It is almost impossible to capture in words what it really is. It is one of those 'you have to be there type of experiences.' This prayer journey is an individual prayer journey with a different experience at each area during the walk.

It is a personal walk through a Holy Place with Jesus to find out more about who He is and who you are in Him. It is one of those times that you get out of it as much as you want to put into it. However, if we are willing to receive from the Lord, he can give us much more than we ever thought or imagined.

It is a time of relationship, a time of repentance, a time of forgiving, a time of crying, a time of joy, a time of rejoicing, a time of praise, a time of worship, a time of revelation, a time of wisdom, and everything in between and more. "

Join us on Monday, October 13. An offering will be received to assist Barbara with her expenses, and to partner with the Mission Wounded Knee/Broken Walls prison and reservation tour at the end of October - beginning of November.

Pierre Aglow is partnering with Mission Wounded Knee in Frontenac, KS, to bring Jonathan and Maracle and Broken Walls and a team of volunteers to South Dakota for a concert and ministry tour to prisons and reservations.

Broken Walls is a unique music group that incorporates sounds from theirFirst Nation heritage within a contemporary setting. Their recordings are diverse in sound, but common in theme.You will hear First Nations flute, Native drums, and also the sound of a full 3 or 4 piece band. To quote Bruce Bartelli in the Mission Wounded Knee February 2008 newsletter, "Though I do not carry the anointing in Christ centered music, I do know who is a literal musical instrument in God's hands; Jonathan, Kris and Bill. For this MWK journey we are sensing 'The Lord looking down from his sanctuary and releasing the prisoners' through Broken Walls music."

"In the United States prison system the national ratio of hte total prison population who are Native American is just under 2.0%. In South Dakota, however, the Native ratio of prisoners is 27% for men and 39% for women. These are fathers and mothers who are desperately seeking to be right for their children. Jonathan and Broken Walls have a prophetic mandate to restore the heart of the father to Native sons and daughters. Now you can help send them to those 'hid in prison houses'. To give the prisoners hope for a freedom they may have never known before in their lies. By financially helping Jonathan, Kris and Bill to do their concerts in prisons you are declaring to the heavens, 'Restore!' and proclaiming, 'Deliver!' "

Carla Reed is the founder and director of Selah Ministries and travels as a speaker and musician across America. She is a licensed, ordained minister, holding credentials with Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship based in Bradenton, FL, and founded by Dr. Gerald Derstine. She is also a ministry associate of Calvary Pentecostal Campground in Ashland, VA, having been mentored and ordained by the late Ruth Ward Heflin. She is a member of the International Healing Rooms Association, based in Spokane, WA and has a great desire to see people healed and delivered in every area of their lives.

There is sometimes a question about whether men are welcome at Aglow. With Pierre Aglow, our policy is that women and men are all welcome unless it is specifically stated otherwise. Childcare will be available.

Carla will be coming through Pierre on her journey to Eastport, Maine.

To quote Carla: "Last month, I shared with you that I felt the Lord was speaking to me about going to Eastport, Maine. This is the far northern and easternmost city of our nation and the fourth corner of the country for me to stand and pray on the shores and pour out the waters." This trip seems to be a culmination of "intercession over America that started in 2000 when I [Carla] began collecting and praying over the waters of our country. Not really sure why I was doing it, except that it gave us a prophetic picture of the unity of streams coming together in one mighty flow."

Welcome to Pierre Aglow in Pierre, SD! We are affiliated with Aglow International (http://www.aglow.org/) and are part of the U. S. Great Plains Rocky Mountain Region of Aglow under U. S. Director Sande Lofberg (http://www.aglow-gprmr.org/); and the West River Area Board (Ruth Dotson).

Our local group sponsors ministry at the South Dakota Women's Prison each month. We lead praise and worship, bring in a special speaker or ministry team, and have personal prayer with our Aglow friends in the SDWP. We also come alongside the prison Chaplain, Pastor Michele Bradley and the Church of Hope congregation there.

In the past two years we've arranged several local meetings in the community to meet these goals:

Minister to spiritual needs in our community

Model unity among Christians
